Code of ethics of the navigation on the Lake Taurus
Speed of 10km / hour in 50m of the bank
For the safety of all, reduce the speed at 10km / hour when the boat including
the motomarine is in 50 metres or less than bank everywhere on the Lake Taurus.
Speed reduced to narrows
Slow down the speed of your boat in narrows on the Lake Taurus, notably in the
master passes of the Solitary island, the Environment, the island of France,
Saindon and on both sides of the island of Lacroix. Become aware of those who
surround you from the point of view of water. Respect the zone of navigation
of every boat. The courtesy is acceptable with the other users of Taurus.
No waves
In the zones of marinas and bathing on the Lake Taurus, circulate without making
of waves with any boat including the motomarine.
Safe bathing and swimming
Navigate to more than 30 metres of the swimmers, the swimmers and never cross
an identified site for the swimming or the bathing sites on Lake Taureau.
Avoid noises
Certain boats emit useless noises preventing a peaceful enjoyment of the Lake
Taurus. If possible, direct the escape of your engine in the water. Avoid any
noise of engine, music or others being able to disturb the local residents and
the other sailors. Think of the others...
Throw your waste
Throw the garbage and pour waste water or quite other pollutant in places foreseen
for that purpose in marinas or bring back them at home. Keep appropriate(clean)
beaches. Be respectful to the other sailors.
Fragile environments
Waves produced by boats destroy habitats in the fragile environments. Navigate
without mechanical propulsion notably in rivers, brooks and in the heart of
bays following ones: the hervier of islands and swamp in beavers; the river
in Swamps; the brook Hamel; the river of the Post; the river in Buzzards in
the Bay of the Post; the brook René; the creek of the Red Boat; the wet
circles of Point - Liqueur brandy and the bay of Distaffs.
Urgency and complaint
In case of emergency, to indicate behavior to risks on the Lake Taurus or to
raise a complaint further to an incident, communicate with the Criminal Investigation
Department of Quebec, (450-833-6378) or compose 911. In case of breakdowns,
you can use the frequency 16 of your radio VHF. A regular surveillance is made
by the nautical patrol of the sureté of Quebec.
The effect of the alcohol increases on the water!
The driver, in particular, has to live in constant state of alert and anticipate every operation. The consumption aboard a boat intensifies the effects of the alcohol. Mixed in the sun, in the waves and in the wind, the alcohol weakens the faculties of the operator. An accident so fast arrived! Think of your passengers and the other sailors before it is too late.. To drive a boat while drinking some alcohol is criminal...
